10/20/03: Well, I finally watched 'Deliverance' this weekend...

and now you too can squeal like a pig!

Like all movies that came out in the seventies, our take on horror was based on reruns of Night Gallery and Creature Features. Think of what they had to work with in the silent films, take for instance Dracula. Ooh scary black and white ugly face. Shit I've seen uglier looking faces in real life.

No, we've come to a point in scare films in which sound is your only heart stopper. Visual effects no longer have the edge to push you out of your seat. The days of Mike M. are over and all the industry can do is remake, remake, remake.

Did I mention they did a remake of everything this year. I'm sick of remakes and no I will not go and see 'Kill Bill'. SE's have blown the entire movie industry to the point of plotless, worthless trash. I say leave originals alone, don't take someones masterpiece and fuck with it. Look at what happened with 'Psycho', Hitchcock is a legend! Some dumb ass thinks they can do better than the man who invented the thriller!?

Then there's sequels, the mother of all stupid inventions. Have we gotten to 13 in 'Friday the 13th' yet? Please, we already know when the axe/chainsaw/ginsu knife is coming. The only thing I was happy about one year, was when "Direct to Video" was introduced! Yeah baby, this movie is such a bomb we didn't even want to put it on the big screen. Thank you Alan Smithee for HellRaiser Bloodline and other fine 'F' movies.

When will we ever see a creative side of Hollywierd again. Are we destined to pay money to see Sean Penn, Keanu Reeves, the Friends cast (including hubby Broderick) in "My friends the dudes day off"!?

The only recent stroke genius was the Pokemon movies, at least those go well with shrooms or acid.

end rant
