He gives this film 0 stars. Why? Well, he offers no substantive critique of the film. Instead, he merely claims that the sole intent of the filmmakers is to cause disgust & hopelessness in the audience. What's wrong with this? Does anyone want to see this type of horror film w/out being disgusted. There's the good, restrained horror film (unless you're Skilly) & the shlockfest. I want the latter to disgust me. Does anyone want to see an optimistic horror film? I don't want a happy ending. I want everyone to die gruesome deaths. This is Ebert's worst review since he reviewd the (pretty funny) "Wet Hot American Summer" with a stupid camp fire song parody.
