Aw fuck it. You're right. We're not all down with American policies though. I've known for a long time how our govt. preaches free trade, but is always looking for ways to give corporations based here the edge. Luckily globalization is happening and corporations are become more like squids, which is all good. So is this about the masses of beef you guys have in Australia? As long as there's not that much kangaroo meat thrown in I have no problemo.
I think it's a mistake to discuss this issue in conjuction with the war on terror as they're two separate animals. Unless you want to be really cutthroat and use whatever means necessary for leverage. Either or.
Realistically though, the world is full of American-like protectionism. Japan's always trying to keep out American agricultural competition and the Euros do what they can as well (or at least their farmers do). Now IF everybody dropped their subsidies, then we'd have lots of cheap poultry, beef, and veggies and the consumers of the world would win! Of course that isn't going to happen. Who the fuck cares about consumers anyway?
