There's Something About That Location. Right up the street to the west, from where Mary & Magda lived, is an apartment building with an indoor swimming pool & spiral staircases. A little bit north is another apartment building with cool blue neon accents (expensive son-of-a-buck, though). Check it out next time you're just south of Miami Shores.
