01/24/08: What I don't get

They can develop systems that will allow pilots to land planes using instruments, but they can't develop an electronic system that will allow the pilots to park the plane at the gate without a bunch of goofs running around with paddles and flashlights?

One time I took a flight on Frontier and the perky young woman working the counter was doubling as one of the runway crew. For a plane to take off, she had to assist with boarding, then run downstairs onto the tarmac and help wave the plane onto the runway, then run back upstairs and assist with the boarding of the next plane. She looked ridiculous standing on the runway in her perky little Frontier uniform, with her perky little page boy haircut, perkily assisting getting a fully loaded 737 on its way.
