Hamas became more popular with the Palestinians because Fatah was ineffective and wasn't anti-israeli enough.* The only peace Hamas wants is every piece of Israel. Never mind how you feel about Israel, how does one negotiate with that? **

"I'll slipt it in half. We can each get an equal share."
"No, the whole cake is rightfully mine and I'll kill you to get it."
The point of that analogy is that I could really go for some cake right now. I'd much rather eat cake than write this.

**Yes, I know there are "zionists" who want every piece of biblical Israel under Jewish control, too. But the Israeli government has compromised a lot in the past decades. Meanwhile, Palestinian groups have become more violent.
