How about no guns at all, therefore fewer gun related deaths. I know people say 'Oh I need the gun for protection, it's my right to own one, and criminals will always be able to get theirs on the black market anyway whether legal or not'. It's that kind of roundabout mentality that prevents anything positive from being done about such a problematic issue. I notice people seem happy enough to make amendments to the constitution when it suits their interests, but act like it's the sacrosanct and binding word of God if someone wants to take away their (anachronistic in the modern context) right to own a dangerous firearm. And the less guns you have legally available, the fewer gun related crimes, fact. make it harder for people to acquire them and the statistics will drop. To quote Bill Hicks: 'Last Year in England, where no-one carries handguns, not even the cops, there were fourteen deaths from handguns. Here, and I think you know how we feel about handguns, there were 79,000. But there's no connection, and you'd be a fool and a communist to make one, between having a gun and shooting someone with it, and not having a gun and not shooting someone.' Enough said.
