12/09/1999: TRL must have had a lot of fans....

Posted By: pdxpunk1

I remember going to the video store when SPR came out, and they had like 2 racks full of them, then when TRL came out, they had 2 racks full of them, and ALL rented out for about 3 weeks. They we're out of SPR only for a week. I think this was a great movie,I was getting tired of the mindless action of SPR,I could only watch it about 3 times and then it got boring once again. The opening scene is probably the best part. Most people agree, from then on it's pretty crappy. A lot of people we're disappointed w/ TRL because they had all just seen SPR and expected to have action right away, but TRL built up.It was a more mindful movie. It takes someone w/ some intellagence to understand, any 8 year old kid can understand SPR,but I doubt they would TRL.Someone remarked that the voice overs comenly had nothing to do w/ what was happening at the time.I doubt most men in the war while waiting for something,we're thinking about what was happening around them,I'm sure they we're thinking about a lot of stuff, and if they would of been thinking about why they we're there and what they we're doing they would be saying those things that we're said in the voice overs. The sympathy for the Japanese some of you remarked was bad.Well, I don't know if any of you have relized this, but the japanese weren't just mindless killing machines, they we're fighting for something they believed in, or we're made to do so,just like the allied soldiers were.I hope some of you take that into consideration. Overall I thought TRL was a great movie,as was SPR,but I thought TRL was better.
