A few years ago, during my anti-religion phase, I wrote a particularly inflammatory letter to the editor (of the local newspaper) calling Christians simple-minded and presumptuous, and going on to critique a variety of previous letters sent by Christian fundamentalists (our area is filled with them). Well, some little old grandmotherly type called my house to tell me she really "enjoyed" and "appreciated" my letter and she thought I was just "wonderful." Seriously, she said that. I was shocked. I didn't know anyone read it, either.
It is a nice feeling, though.
For the record, I don't hold such views anymore (on Christianity). My thinking has developed and expanded considerably.
