03/15/02: So, did he really change anything? (Spoilers)

Posted By: 0b1knob

When the Time Traveler blew the local Morlocks to hell by overloading his time machine, did he really change anything? The head Morlock said that he was only "one of many". Wouldn't things just continue to evolve into the hideous future he glimpsed? Much like his fiance died no matter what he did?

And if the past cannot be changed then isn't the future (being a product of the past) also unchangeable? Doesn't the movie negate the entire idea of free choice in human affairs? Have I been doomed to writing this, and you to reading it, since the creation of the universe? And how does it all tie in with the many worlds concept of quantum mechanics?
