What Parca said. There's a reason why science fiction is found in the 'fiction' department rather than in the 'science' section with the speculative paleontology.

As to 'ethereal vibrations'; back in Wells' day, many people - including many reputable scientists - believed in the ether, a fundamental universal medium that was supposed to fill all space whether seemingly "empty" or occupied by matter. This falls under what I was talking about earlier, it's science, just out-of-date science. And Wells' explanation of invisibility as hyper-transparence holds up as well or better than most modern authors' gibberish about perfectly bending light around the person/object.
