People sometimes say "what do you expect, it's just a popcorn movie."
Something about the expression "popcorn movie" that bugs the shit out of me. I'm still working on why. Anyone else have this? I've never actually heard anyone say this in person, I've only read it on various movie forums here and there.
Usually it's used by someone who is referring to other people who rip a movie apart. They say "turn your brain off, lighten up, don't take it so seriously, it's just a popcorn movie."
I picture a dim bulb of a person staring at the screen with greasy fingers shoving popcorn in his mouth with an idiot grin on his face.
