_Morlock Night_ by W.K. Jeter.
When I first heard the basic premise (that the Morlocks use the time machine to travel to Wells' London), I made a point of tracking down a copy.
Unfortunately, the book is utter shit. Badly written, and it veers all over the place with all kinds of extraneous plot elements that don't add anything but ill-conceived, badly written clutter.
