your premise of the movie is quite correct .then again from the cranky mans point of view he is correct also. I also had a problem with the Sandra Bullock character-as in why the hell is she in this movie. There are no answers it seems ,what the movie suggests is thatshe is helping out of the kindness of her heart.As you know Lawyers are so kind and thoughtful.so in the end we have a character that isnt fleshed out properly which doesnt add to the film but rather takes away from it.This flaw though , in my mind didnt take away the fact that it was a good depiction of the southern states in the sixties.On the whole I found the movie very good.
