06/04/02: As long as Scrappy doesn't show up...

then Scooby-Doo has potential to be watchable, even entertaining (of course, that doesn't mean I have any intention of rushing out to see it - a $1 DVD rental will suffice). These kinds of movies (live-action cartoon remakes) get a bad rap, yet aren't entirely without value (I liked several aspects of the Rocky & Bullwinkle movie, and the Josie & the Pussycats movie had some clever satire in the mix). I'm a little surprized they're still making them though - R&B and J&tP both flopped, as did the second Flintstones movie and the Dudley Do-Right movie (the genre's only real hits which I can think of are the first Flintstones movie and the George of the Jungle movie, the first of which had massive hype and the second benifitted from a certain goofy charm).
