I just kept thinking of it as some Dikensian malnutrition- type disease. "Rickets" and "Scurvy" have two of the best disease names around, too -- right up there with "consumption", "the shingles" and (my personal fave) "dropsy".
Thank you, and yes, I have awful vision. I can't see my glasses on the nightstand when I wake up. I have to put them in the same place every night so I'll be able to find them by touch. Then I must wear them to get to the bathroom where I put in my contact lenses. If I had the four grand to do it, I'd get Lasic surgery performed, but -- alas -- I'm not so fortunate at the moment. I'm sure the price will come down in the next few years, though, once the technology becomes less sophisticated by contemporary standards.
