Fred was essentially consumed by Illyria, a demon who now inhabits her body. So the same actress is there and all, and bits of Fred are still essentially floating around in Illyria. It's possible they'll bring her back or merge into some sort of composite being.

Not sure about Enterprise being the series finale, though. I thought it was still in the bubble stage, and the odds were that it would last another season. Where did you hear that?
