The movie Beautiful Mind has completely dropped any reference to homosexuality of its protagonist, which was a major theme of the book. Instead a love story involving Jennifer Connelly has been substituted to increase the appeal of the film as a chick flick.
LOTR has also introduced a female character, played by Liv Tyler, to dilute the obvious gay subtext of the all male fellowship of the rings. I mean those guys were as gay as Robin Hood and his Merry Men or Batman and Robin.
Does every movie have to be a chich flick? Can't we have just one movie once in a while for the butt pirates of the world?
