This is the short screenplay that I mentioned a few weeks ago winning second place in a film festival screenplay contest. It's also the one my film school student friends started filming during the summer and got 90% done before they had to go back to school -- now we seem to be stuck because the director refuses to come back before Christmas to finish it off and everyone else is annoyed with him for doing so, so it's not looking all that good! Could be my own personal "Lost in La Mancha." Anyway, I wrote it on the back of an envelope during a 5 hour drive and have barely changed it sense -- it's gone a pretty long ways for something I put so little effort into! It was originally written directly for my friends to film, in fact -- we needed a simple, quick, easy, fun project that showcased everyone's talents, and after a lot of arguing about what genre it should be, I compromised and made it EVERY genre. You'll see what I mean.
Logline: Two college-age chat buddies decide to meet for real for a date, but their respective best friends try to talk them out of it with descriptions of various personal ad date worst case scenarios. Not a direct parody of "You've Got Mail," which, believe it or not, I've never seen. (Ah, the benefits of the pre-critic era!)
