...I disagree to some extent about DeNiro. He's done quite a few substantially different characters from his "Italian gangster" guy. Although "Cape Fear" was absurdly over-the- top, that was certainly much different from his "Casino," "Goodfellas," "Godfather" and (jokingly) "Analyze This" characters, as was Travis Bickle in "Taxi Driver" and his "Awakenings" character -- plus "Jackie Brown," "Raging Bull" and "Frankenstein." I mean, he's no Colin Farrell or Brad Pitt or Vincent D'Onofrio or anything, but he does a much better job of taking on diverse roles and truly submerging himself into those different characters than many popular actors today that really do "play themselves" in almost every role (Kevin Spacey jumps to mind).
