I'm gonna be the devil's advocate and say Nicole Kidman. She's done a lot of crap (Practical Magic, anyone?), but she deserved Oscar nominations for To Die For, Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge, The Others, Birthday Girl, and The Hours. Cold Mountain and The Human Stain also look good...not to mention her early work in Aussie films such as Flirting and Dead Calm.
