Well, yes actually.
The DVD bonus material advises us that Hitchcock used a metronome to time Novak's pace up the belltower steps prior to her taking that loooooooooooooong step into the wild blue yonder.
Trouble is, he started the metronome at the beginning of the movie and set it on dead-slow: tick-tock goes the movie. How sloooooooow can you go?
Nevertheless, the film is redeemed as we are treated to James Stewart driving endlessly (and aimlessly) around San Francisco in (now) classic cars that come staight out of the high-fin era. That's gotta count for something. Doesn't it? Well, doesn't it?
