Good observation on the temperature of lava, which was ignored even more stupidly in "Dante's Peak" (where the vehicle drives over an active flow without touching off the gas tank!). Using massed vehicles to buttress those concrete barriers on Wilshire Boulevard? It would have caused a string of explosions even BEFORE the highly fluid pahoehoe type lava spilled over the makeshift dam.
