Where the hell do you get off insulting David Mamet, Wanky? On his worst day, he writes circles around you. Mamet is brilliant, as evidenced by American Buffalo, Oleanna and Glengarry Glen Ross. While Wag the Dog may not have been the best movie made, and Mamet has had his misfires (e.g., the first draft of Hannibal), he is not a hack by any stretch. And I hardly think you are in a position to comment intelligently on Mamet, since all you have going for you is this lame-ass excuse for a website.
The film is good and worth a rental. Hoffman is terrific as Motts and the premise of the story, manufacturing a war for political gain, was a timely one. So what if they chose not to indict George Bush as was done in the book... The movie is much more powerful as a story with fictional characters than it ever would have been with some idiot playing Bush - it would have come off only as an unveiled political attack. Get a grip, Wankee, you unbelievable moron.
