Best: Chicken Run (with Gladiator, Perfect Storm, X-Men, The Patriot close behind)
Worst: The Cell
Performances: Hugh Jackman quieted the naysayers. In the meantime (risking metaphoric life and limb here), on the distaff side, I nominate the woman who voiced the lead chicken (I've forgotten all the names here and am too lazy to consult the IMDB) in Chicken Run. You heard every ray of hope, every moment of despair in her voice.
To put it in perspective, these are the flick my wife & I saw:
The Cell, Chicken Run, Gladiator, Highlander: Endgame, The Patriot, The Perfect Storm, Space Cowboys, X-Men.
Generally speaking, we don't go to many movies on spec, so to speak. We both have to comment that we'd be interested in seeing it before we plunk down the cash and spend the time. That also means that we'll usually end up liking a film we see more often than not.
