About # 1 and 2 anyway:
1. Day In The Life
2. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
And sometimes # 4 The Walrus
Definitely don't agree with him about that character thing, though. And I absolutely do not agree with skilly. I'm sure that comes as a shock to many. Those are my two favorite Beetles songs but I'm certainly not about to chuck any of my few remaining friends for disagreeing with me on that matter (nearly lost 4 female friends in an argument over Neil LaBute movies OTHER THAN "Nurse Betty" -- that was bad enough). I'm going to assume from past conversations with skilly that she considers "Pretty Hate Machine" to be Nine Inch Nails' best albums (as she loses respect for Reznor with each album). While certainly not "dull to the senses" (except to those who are bored to death by industrial-techno-metal), I would have to say it's a rather simplistic and not exactly intellectually stimulating album. Basically Trent just whines about the fact that women hate him and his adolescent life is falling apart for an hour. Kinda like CFL, except with a beat. (The primary exception is the most famous song, "Head Like A Hole," which isn't really about women. Unless you assume "godmoney" = "woman" like I must with my last date. Black as her soul indeed...)
DO NOTE: "Pretty Hate Machine" is on my list of top 10 albums of all time -- the above paragraph was by no means a condemnation of it
