The wedding singer could have been huge if the setting was just the 80's. The movie had cheap 80's jokes. If instead of the puns and jokes making up for the laughs, the setting would have been in the 80's and not in the 90's making fun of the 80's. Like in the Titanic; the time period was presented with cheesie jokes reminding the viewers of the real period of the which the movie was made.
