02/20/04: This sounds like a Bobby Bittman movie

The time he appeared on Dick Cavett's show to promote FUNNY STUFF, a movie he wrote, directed and starred in, about a man who starts out the President of the US, but gets reduced to being a clown in the circus. He brought along a "making of" clip which showed him yelling things like "NO- ONE SAYS 'CUT' ON THIS SET BUT ME!" (Cavett asked, "Are you always like that?") Bittman also mentioned his book about the making of FUNNY STUFF, "which you forgot to plug."
