I do agree with you this movie wasn't that good and ripped of tons of movies, but i can answer some of your questions. The couple next door was there to make you think that the wife was the ghost hauntin Michelle ( although they gave away the affair thing in the previews so it became pointless.) The blood on the shoe was to make you think the wife was killed. The daughter going away to college is just to show at first how they looked like the perfect family then the daughter leaves and it all goes down hill from there. The car crash was to show how Michelle forgot about the affair. Harrison faked the electrocution so Michelle wouldn't be as mad at him for cheating. Can't answer the dead dad thing.
