01/13/05: Bush says, "We're spreading freedom" How? What about security at home?

In the presidential debate, Bush remarked that in the Iraq campaign we were in fact, "Spreading freedom." How do you spread freedom? You can't just dig freedom out of a peanut butter jar and spread it on two pieces of foreign diplomacy.

But let's recap for a second, after 9-11, our immediate concern was to find the assholes responsible, and take them out of the picture. We seemed to have them on the run in Afganistan, their leaders had retreated to hiding in caves. But we were also commited to seeking out and destroying terrorism whereever it was hiding. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't they still hiding in the fucking mountains! I'm not saying I'm not concerned about countries selling weapons to terrorists, but the terrorists that we know, (not believe) but know, were directly responsable for 9-11 and other tragedies before that were sitting like ducks and all we had to do was commit some time and money to searching for them. That oughtta be our first concern.

Right now, we are commiting time and money to spreading freedom. Lots of time and money! When did spending billions of dollars spreading freedom, fighting insurgents, and setting up voting systems become our primary concern?

Furthermore, What would terrorists do with weapons of mass destruction anyway? They seem to be commited to using C4 explosives, highjacking airplanes, and fireing guns. When was the last time you saw a terrorist group fire of a nuclear missle. Where would they fire it off from?

In conclusion, if our priorety is terrorism and national security, then we ought to stick to that priorety and make Iraq priorety number two. The lunatics that committed 9- 11 are still out there and I don't think they're in Iraq.
