01/13/05: "Miracle" and "Coach Carter"

I saw "Coach Carter" a few weeks ago, and had nothing to say about it then and little to say about it right now because there's not much to say: typical, average inspirational sports movie, dominated by Samuel L. Jackson's acting. But it occurs to me that this movie was released to coincide with basketball season (not that that was too hard, considering the basketball season GOES ON FOREVER; seriously, finals-bound NBA players DON'T play for like 3 months of the year). Last year, "Miracle" was released around this time to coincide with the height of hockey season.

So I wonder what Disney would have done if last year was this year and they found themselves releasing a hockey movie during a year when there was no hockey, thanks to the NHL lockout? Would they have delayed the release a year? Or would they have said "Hey, people are hungry for some hockey so let's give it to them!" You gotta wonder...
