What with "No Scrubs" and other songs that point out the utter materialism that motivates women when seeking a partner. There's a reason why guys drive nice cars and get good jobs.
Never mind is a guy is the nicest guy on Earth, if he doesn't have a car, or a lot of money then "talk to the hand".
At least that's the impression I get from pop music.
