As far as you having a high opinion of him (Righteous Dude), that's your business. He has been flaming me and accusing me of all manner of shit for months. He apparently thought I was overreacting during the summer when l-s was posting "my dead mommy" stuff, slamming my mother and me, less than a month after her death, and persistently bringing in the subject of my relationship with the Cute Beatle and my book. That made quite an impression on me.
You're certainly right about my "problem" with l-s and Gump. And yes, after losing my best friend, suddenly and without warning, and having to fly to NJ, take care of my father and the rest of the relatives who flew in for the funeral, I was about as vulnerable as a human being can be. What those two did to me and to the entire site put me right over the edge. They continue to bait me, and I have no problem slamming them as hard as I feel like doing. They are the lowest scum I've run across in three years on the net. The fact that JYD took their side is really not a factor. It was very trivial compared to what I've been dealing with IRL.
I really have no desire to correspond with you about them. All I am interested in is clearing up the current misunderstanding between you and me... and it looks like you've done that pretty much already. I'm glad you accept my apology.
Is there really any point in going over this racism business any further? I never perceived you as a part of the group I described as "stalwarts"... there were a couple of others who need not be named, who posted much worse than you (e.g., Rodney King asked for it kind of thing).
Right now I am much more active in a Usenet group than I am in Cranky's... there's precious little that interests me about the dominant posters these days. Sorry, but the fact is most longtime posters have buckled under to the prevailing level of discourse, which is for the most part a lot less engaging than it was before the Twin Trolls took over. Just count my posts over the past week and compare that to the number of posts by l-s, Gump, and their willing correspondents.
Sorry if this sounds like denial. I'm just so incredibly tired of what Crankyland has become.
And I may be as sensitive as you are -- but I don't think so.
