LA Fitness Coupons

LA Fitness is a popular chain of health clubs based in Irvine, California. The chain is privately owned by the firms Madison Dearborn Partners, Seidler Equity Partners and CIVC Partners. There are currently over 300 LA Fitness clubs that provide services to over 1.5 million members. The clubs span 21 different states as well as several Canadian provinces. LA Fitness generally targets young professionals, although it has programs catering to children, families, middle-aged adults and senior citizens.

LA Fitness describes its mission as: “To help as many people as possible achieve the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. To fulfill this mission, we will create a nationwide network of sports clubs, offering our members the widest range of amenities and the friendliest service at an affordable price.”

Company History

The privately owned chain was first opened in 1984 by the same executive team that heads it today. This executive team incorporated a highly successful strategy of buying out struggling fitness centers and operating them as LA Fitness clubs. This strategy was mainly used between 1984 and 1995, a period of advanced growth, during which LA Fitness turned around several poorly performing clubs before developing its current signature look, which was introduced with the development of a brand new health club in 1995. At 45,000 square feet, the new multi-purpose fitness club was much larger and more sophisticated than the earlier LA Fitness locations. This fancier design attracted a multitude of new customers, and was quickly used as a blueprint for twelve prototype clubs, which were opened in Southern California and Arizona in 1998. This successful model was also used to standardize the existing LA Fitness clubs that had been acquired between 1984 and 1995.

Today, all LA Fitness clubs are built at or above the standard of the premiere 1995 location. The facilities include state-of-the-art equipment for cardio training and weight lifting.

LA Fitness Offers and Promotions

The health club chain offers several promotional programs in the hopes of attracting and retaining customers. The majority of these offers can be found at the LA Fitness website (www.lafitness.com). Some of the more popular LA Fitness promotions include free guest passes,

Free Guest Pass: Potential customers are invited to learn more about LA Fitness by visiting a local club for free. To do so, potential customers are offered free guest passes, which can also online at the LA Fitness website. To obtain a guest pass, website visitors are asked to enter their zip codes so that the website’s map can locate nearby locations. Once the visitor has selected a location and entered the necessary personal information (name and address, etc.), a printable guest pass will be sent to his or her email inbox. A visitor holding a guest pass may spend one day using the selected LA Fitness facilities and taking classes offered at that particular health club. The pass must be redeemed within thirty days of the date on which it is sent to the visitor’s email inbox.

No Starter Fee: Occasionally, LA Fitness will offer potential customers to opportunity to join the fitness club without paying a start-up fee. These offers can often be found in printed advertisements sent in the mail. They are rarely available online.

Local LA Fitness branches also may offer their own special discounts and promotions. Such offers are typically only valid in specific LA Fitness locations. Many LA Fitness clubs offer student discounts, in which the initiation fee is waived and the monthly fee is lowered. Students are also able to pay on a month-to-month basis at many LA Fitness locations, instead of having to pay for a longer contract. To be eligible for student discounts, members must present a valid student ID when signing up.
