The Olay business was bought over by Richardson Merrill and became Richardson-Vicks Inc in 1970. Richardson-Vicks improved the product range to include ‘Night of Ulay’ and Beauty Cleanser and expanded the product reach further to Spain, France and Germany. In 1985, Procter & Gamble (P&G) bought over Richardson-Vick and changed the brand name to ‘Olay’ in 1999. Today, Olay has become one of P&G’s top 22 billion dollar brands in the world. Olay raked in an estimated USD 2.8 billion in sales by end of 2009 fiscal year, which accounted for 3.5 per cent of P&G’s total revenue for that year.
